Top leaders of the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) met Maharashtra State Chief Electoral Officer S Chokkalingam here on Wednesday, demanding transparency in the electoral roll revision process. They urged him to ensure that the names of eligible voters are not unjustly excluded and to take strict action against fake and duplicate entries.
They also demanded special care so that voters from rural, tribal, migrant, disadvantaged, and weaker sections are not deprived of their right to vote due to any technical reason.

On the occasion, a detailed statement was given regarding the Special In-depth Review (SIR) campaign being implemented in the state.
The delegation included Maharashtra Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal, Sharad Pawar-led NCP leader Jayant Patil, Sharad Pawar-led NCP state president Shashikant Shinde, Congress party group leader in the Legislative Council Satej Patil, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena leader and Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray, former ministers Anil Parab, Rajesh Tope, Dr Vishwajit Kadam, MP Dhairyasheel Patil, former Leader of the Opposition Ambadas Danve, Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Sheikh, All India Congress Committee Secretary Sachin Sawant, Youth Congress state president Shivraj More, State Congress General Secretary Advocate Sandesh Kondwilkar, social activist Ulka Mahajan and other prominent office bearers of Maha Vikas Aghadi.
The MVA delegation also raised issues regarding the planning of polling stations, correction of errors in the voter list, the functioning of booth level officers, transparency in the voter registration process and equal opportunities for all political parties.
They also emphasised that the Election Commission must take an impartial stance to maintain the public’s trust in the democratic process.
